Central star formation in double-peak, gas-rich radio galaxies

چکیده

In a recent work, large sample of double-peak (DP) emission line galaxies have been identified from the SDSS. While two peaks could represent kinematic components, they may be linked to bulges which their host tend have. Star-forming DP display central star formation enhancement and discussed compatible with sequence minor mergers. order probe merger induced mechanisms, we conducted observations molecular gas content 35 star-forming in upper part main (MS) IRAM 30m telescope. Including similar 0.3 dex above MS existing literature, finally obtain 52 such galaxies. We succeed fitting same parameters optical ionised lines for 10 (19%) find resulting most likely galaxy or interaction, is indicated by an excess extinction found centre. This traced radio continuum emissions at 150MHz, 1.4 3GHz, are all three linearly correlated log CO luminosity slope. The significantly larger amount depletion times, hence lower efficiency, than expected values distance MS. consistent scenario mergers increasing mass driving also exclude inwards directed migration origin bar morphology. Hence, these results that funnelled towards centre, triggering formation, but moderate efficiency.

Radio Continuum and Star Formation in CO-rich Early Type Galaxies

In this paper we present new high resolution VLA 1.4 GHz radio continuum observations of five FIR bright CO-rich early-type galaxies and two dwarf earlytype galaxies. The position on the radio-FIR correlation combined with striking agreements in morphology between high resolution CO and radio maps show that the radio continuum is associated with star formation in at least four of the eight gala...

The Relationship between Gas Content and Star Formation in Molecule-rich Spiral Galaxies

We investigate the relationship between H I, H2, and the star formation rate (SFR) using azimuthally averaged data for seven CO-bright spiral galaxies. Contrary to some earlier studies based on global fluxes, we find that ΣSFR exhibits a much stronger correlation with ΣH2 than with ΣHI, as ΣHI saturates at a value of ∼ 10 M⊙ pc or even declines for large ΣSFR. Hence the good correlation between...

The self regulating star formation of gas rich dwarf galaxies in quiescent phase

The expected episodic or intermittent star formation histories (SFHs) of gas rich dwarf irregular galaxies (dIrrs) are the longstanding puzzles to understand their whole evolutional history. Solving this puzzle, we should grasp what physical mechanism causes the quiescent phase of star formation under the very gas rich condition after the first starburst phase. We consider that this quiescent p...

A Radio Perspective on Star-Formation in Distant Galaxies

Determination of the epoch dependent star-formation rate of field galaxies is one of the principal goals of modern observational cosmology. Deep radio surveys, sensitive to starbursts out to z ∼ 1-2, may hold the key to understanding the evolution of the starburst phenonemon unhindered by the effects of dust. Using deep, high resolution radio observations of the Hubble Deep Field, we show that ...

Molecular Gas and Star Formation in Local Early-Type Galaxies

The molecular gas content of local early-type galaxies is constrained and discussed in relation to their evolution. First, as part of the ATLAS survey, we present the first complete, large (260 objects), volume-limited single-dish survey of CO in normal local early-type galaxies. We find a surprisingly high detection rate of 22%, independent of luminosity and at best weakly dependent on environ...
